Case Study – Digital Business Space, White Cross, Lancaster

White Cross Mill is the oldest mill in the City of Lancaster. It was originally built as a spinning factory in 1802 and was the first mill in Lancaster to use steam power. Whilst the site closed as a large-scale industrial site some years ago it enjoyed regeneration in the late 80’s which helped turn it into a thriving business hub. This project is the latest exciting phase of its development, creating a modern digital hub for businesses.

J W was awarded the contract for all internal demolition works in Frazer House, taking the building back to the shell. This project started during the first coronavirus lockdown so we learned and adapted our working policies and site rules to ensure we worked with the highest levels of personal safety. Being built in the late 1800s, with many building changes since then it was important that we respected the building heritage as well as being aware of the unique challenges it posed.
